Everything You've Created in Your Life Today is a Result of Choices You Made in the Past

Everything you've created in your life today is a result of choices you made in the past.

Before you say, oh but I didn't choose for that terrible thing to happen! I didn't ask to be laid off or for a loved one to become ill. I get it. Believe me.

When I was twenty my dad passed away six months after a cancer diagnosis. Then when I was thirty, my husband became seriously ill for many years before he passed on as well. No part of me chose for those things to happen.

But what I came to realise through those experiences is that even within the constraints of difficult life circumstances, we still have choice. Even it's only to choose what meaning we will assign to our difficult experiences.

Realising that you always have choice in your life is incredibly empowering.

You can look around today and say, I created this life that I'm living.

This week in my group program, Be All You Are, we focused on the concept of self-trust.

I asked the group how much they trusted themselves on a scale of 1-10. I reminded them that all they need to do to strengthen their self-trust is to look around at everything they've created in their life up until today. Their lives are proof that they can trust themselves.

And trusting yourself doesn't mean that you always get things right or that you never make mistakes.

Self-Trust means you trust yourself to learn what you need to along the journey to become who you're meant to be.

So if you're dreaming of charting a new path, take comfort in the fact that you can trust yourself as you head into the unknown.

Look ahead with confidence knowing that you can trust yourself to know what you'll need to do and when at each step along the path.

Let your trust in yourself outweigh your fear of the unknown.

“As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live.”
– Johan Wolfgang Von Goethe
