Don't Worry About the How and Let Yourself Revel in the What

There is a reason why the Sunday morning note turned into a Monday morning delivery. I had a bit of a scare yesterday. I was on my way from a coffee shop to pick up Nova from her performance class and I slipped in the parking lot just steps away from the car door. I hit my head hard enough to start bleeding which really scared me. In panic mode I called my sister to go pick up Nova and then called the dance teacher to let her know what had happened. I sat in the car, pressing a napkin on the back of my head just hoping that the bleeding was mild and I wasn't going to pass out. Luckily it was and although the plans for the day got derailed, I was ok.

The whole incident got me thinking about how we are wired to know exactly what to do and in what order when in unexpected, scary situations but when it comes to dreaming of something expansive and new for our lives, we often shrink back because the next right steps aren't clear. Rather than having confidence in our ability to figure it out as we go, we tell ourselves from the get-go that it just isn't possible.

Is there something you dream of having, being or doing? Just for this week, don't worry about the how and let yourself revel in the what. Allow the picture of what you desire come to life in your mind and write it down, letting it expand over the week. Like you did so easily as a child, use your imagination without limitation.

“Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.”
- Rumi
